When office Wi-Fi is slow, the usual response is to buy another router and put it where the signal is weakest. In most Kerala offices this makes the problem worse, and understanding why saves both the money and the frustration.
Two routers on the same channel fight each other
Consumer routers ship on default channels. Put three in one building and they broadcast over each other, so devices spend their time contending for airtime rather than transferring data. The signal bar looks full and nothing loads.
Enterprise access points solve this by coordinating: they share a controller, pick non-overlapping channels, and hand a device cleanly from one to the next as someone walks. That coordination is the actual product, not the radio.
Concrete is the Kerala-specific problem
Most commercial construction here uses solid concrete internal walls, which absorb far more signal than the drywall that manufacturer coverage claims assume. A unit advertised as covering an entire floor may not reach through two walls.
This is why coverage has to be surveyed rather than estimated from floor area. Two access points placed correctly routinely outperform five placed where there happened to be a power socket.
Devices clinging to the wrong access point
A laptop that connected near the entrance will often hold that connection halfway across the building, at a signal strength barely sufficient to work. It has no reason to switch — it can still see the original.
Proper systems manage this by nudging devices to a better access point. Independent routers cannot, because they do not know about each other.
Where the real bottleneck usually sits
Frequently the wireless is not the problem at all. The recurring fault we find in multi-floor Kerala buildings is a switch on each floor daisy-chained to the one below, so all traffic funnels through a chain of links never designed to carry it.

What actually fixes it
A structured approach: decide where the aggregation point belongs, run a proper vertical backbone to it, terminate each floor into that, then place access points against a real coverage survey.
