Zoho for Indian Businesses
An Indian software company with a genuinely broad suite — and a pricing model that rewards understanding it before you buy.
Zoho is an Indian company headquartered in Chennai, which matters more than it sounds: GST, e-invoicing and Indian compliance are native to the products rather than adapted for the market. The suite spans more than fifty applications, and the difficulty for most businesses is not capability but working out which few of those they actually need.
What the Suite Actually Covers
Zoho's range is unusually wide for a single vendor, which is both its strength and the reason businesses end up with several half-configured applications. These are the ones Indian SMEs use most.
Zoho CRM
Sales pipeline, contact management, quotations and follow-up. The most commonly adopted first application, and the one most often left at default configuration.
Zoho Books
Accounting with GST and e-invoicing built in rather than bolted on. This is where the Indian-company advantage is most visible.
Zoho Inventory
Stock across multiple locations, purchase orders, and order fulfilment. Connects to Books so a sale moves stock without re-entry.
Zoho Projects
Project and task tracking with timesheets. Paired with Books it answers what an engagement cost against what was billed.
Zoho Desk
Support ticketing with a customer portal — relevant for any business fielding recurring service requests.
Zoho People
HR records, leave and attendance. Frequently the second application adopted after CRM.
How Zoho Pricing Works
Zoho charges per user per month, with each application priced separately, or bundled into Zoho One which includes the whole suite for one per-person figure. Annual billing is cheaper than monthly.
The detail that catches businesses out is that Zoho One is licensed per EMPLOYEE, not per user. If you buy it, you generally license every employee in the organisation rather than only those who will use it. For a business where a minority need software, individual applications frequently cost less.
There is a flexible-user variant of Zoho One priced higher per seat without the all-employee requirement, which is often the right answer in exactly that situation. It is not always offered unless you ask.
We do not publish figures here because Zoho's own pricing page is authoritative and changes. What matters for a decision is the model above, not a number that may be stale by the time you read it.
Where Zoho Fits Well
Businesses of 10 to 100 users
Cost per user is low enough to approve without a long process, and the suite scales as headcount grows.
Indian compliance requirements
GST, e-invoicing, TDS and place-of-supply rules are native. Adapting a foreign product to these is consistently more work.
Distributed teams and absent owners
Cloud-native and reachable from anywhere with proper access control — which matters where an owner or partner works abroad.
Businesses replacing spreadsheets
The step from spreadsheets to Zoho is smaller and cheaper than the step to a full ERP, and for many businesses it is sufficient.
Where Zoho Is Not the Answer
Manufacturing is the clearest case. Zoho has inventory and order management, but it does not handle bills of materials, work orders and production costing the way a manufacturing-first system does. For a production business, Odoo is usually the better fit and we say so.
High-value stock tracked by weight and purity — jewellery being the obvious example — is another. Zoho Books handles the accounting well, but the standard inventory module was not designed for that and forcing it produces a system people work around.
If your requirement is one narrow function done exceptionally well, a focused product will often serve you better and cost less. Being a certified partner does not oblige us to recommend it for everything.

Zoho Solutions in KeralaZoho — Frequently Asked Questions
Is Zoho suitable for a small Indian business?+
For most, yes. Per-user pricing is low enough for a ten- to fifty-person business to justify, and GST and e-invoicing are native rather than adapted. The usual difficulty is not the software but choosing which few of the fifty-plus applications you actually need.
Zoho One or individual applications?+
It turns on the all-employee rule. Zoho One is licensed per employee rather than per user, so if only a minority of your staff need software, individual applications are frequently cheaper. There is a flexible-user variant without that requirement, priced higher per seat, which often suits exactly that case.
Can Zoho Books handle GST and e-invoicing?+
Yes, and it is one of the strongest reasons Indian businesses choose it. Tax rates, place-of-supply rules and e-invoicing are native. They still need configuring correctly at setup — that is the part that decides whether filings are routine or corrected each cycle.
Can we migrate from Tally to Zoho Books?+
Yes. Masters, opening balances and transaction history migrate, and should be reconciled against your existing books before you rely on the new system. Most businesses we implement for are coming from Tally.
Is Zoho better than Odoo?+
Neither is better in general. Zoho suits businesses whose core need is CRM, accounting and light inventory at a low per-user cost. Odoo suits businesses with manufacturing or complex inventory. We are certified partners for both, so our recommendation reflects fit rather than what we would rather sell.
Do we need a partner, or can we set it up ourselves?+
For a simple use case, self-setup is reasonable. Where it usually breaks down is data migration, GST configuration in Books, and connecting applications so information is not entered twice — the parts that take longer to unpick later than to do properly first.
